  • Is industry responding to increased demand? How?

It's been just about 4 months now since the Sandy Hook atrocities. Demand has far outpaced supply of basic components. My question is something like "How has manufacturing changed?' I mean in basic things like PRIMERS,BRASS AND BULLETS. Also bolts and maybe barrels. Are the necessaries up by 10% ? 100%? 500%? Is it still buisness as usual? Does anyone know?

Most manufacturers have added shifts and are running 24X7 but they have not invested capital to expand production such as buildings, machines and so on. That only makes sense because they don't know how long this bubble will last and could get caught holding unused capital which would drag the financial performance down to dangerous levels.

Flip side of that coin with all of the extra demand, the newly found workloads/influx of revenue may just be what is needed for such a business to take that next step into expansion. Especially if their product is in demand, even outside of the current situation.

There are guys from some of the major component manufacturers that have had to cancel attendance in various competitions because they are working so much overtime. When this thing corrects itself, there will be a lot of supply, but we are in unprecedented waters.
