I dragged out my grendel to hopefully lay the law down on some coyotes. I was going to load some benchmark with the 90 tnt but when I got to my bench I was out. I decided on xbr to try of my available powders and started at 28.5 well at 28.8 I got a lil 1/2 group and it repeated a couple of times. Looking at the books I have on hand, it appears i started a fuzz low so I’m wondering if it’s ok to be ran at 28.8 ? It’s a 16” barrel so the lower the recoil the better. Also what is realistic speeds I could be getting with 85/90gr pills in a 16” ?

Hodgdon online data shows a start load of IMR8208XBR at 28.2 grains with the 90 grain TNT velocity 2701 FPS. Hodgdon list a C.O.A.L. 2.200” and a max charge of 31.1 grains, velocity 2992. Hodgdon uses a 24” test barrel so at 28.8 grains 8208 I think your load would be close to 2575 FPS +or- 25 FPS. Only way to know for sure would be to use a chronograph or shoot at distance and determine your drop.
