Can you guys that have used 7.62 x 39 brass to make 6.5 G brass tell any difference in accuracy, velocity or pressure signs with the large primers vs the small primers?
I doubt you'll see much, if any, difference between the two. I think only a couple companies offered X39 with small primers (Rem, S&B) so most on here use the large primer stuff but I'm sure someone will come along that has compared the two.

I've not shot small primer x39 brass, but do believe that the large primer brass will not get as many loadings due to primer pockets opening up. That's what I'm seeing in the IMI, and it's not soft brass. Just less metal to reduce the stretch. I'm still getting 7-8 loadings, so can't complain.
About 2/3 of the IMI x39 I've retired has been due to loose primer pockets, the remaining is neck cracks. Most of the neck cracks are not your normal work hardening, it's where there was a gouge from the feed ramps that over time failed. I am probably overworking the necks, so a bushing die would have helped.
I have about 100 rounds of Remington small primer pocket brass and about 1000 rounds of IMI large pocket brass. I guess it's time to start fire forming. I also have 100 rounds of Hornady Grendel brass.
That IMI brass is a waste of time, cannot be trusted, and will make you look old and fat. You should dispose of it safely. As a service to Grendel owners, I will be happy to dispose of it for you, and will even pay you brass scrap value! (Sez the guy who kindof wishes he bought a 2nd 1k lot of the IMI brass when it was around)
