primer question?

Maybe I am missing something, but why its everyone using magnum primers in their handloads? I put together some loads with standard and magnum cci primers I saw no real difference in velocity and no difference in pressure signs in the brass. Can anyone give me a good reason for magnum primers?

Most magnum have thicker caps which work better in the AR platform to prevent slamfires.

As above, plus they handle higher pressures without piercing.
