    Smp 763

Just picked up a bunch of it. Supposedly Power Pro 2000MR is very similar. Have to empty some brass and work up some loads with it.

Congratulations! What weight, projectiles do you have in mind over the SMP 763?

Initially since I have a bunch of them 120 grain Barnes Matchburners. Just before hunting season rolls around I will switch to 120 grain Ballistic Tips.

Just happened to find 30 empty 6.5 Grendel cases. Ok I just loaded up 3 rounds each of 30.0 grains and 30.5 grains of SMP 763 for my grendel under the 120 grain Barnes Matchburner. It is over 100 out there and I did let the rifle warm up a bit before I started shooting. Primer is the Federal 205 and Brass is Starline. The 30.0 grain load showed the barest of shine where the ejector was positioned. Shot three into 3/4ths of an inch. The next three showed to be a bit hotter than I will accept but still not outrageous. Slight cratering, barely feel it with fingernail. just a bit more of a shiny spot where the ejector was. POI moved 1/2 inch left and vertically strung into an inch. Think I will back off to 29.5 grains and see how it goes. Kind of like load development backwards. Might maybe get my Magnetospeed out and measure FPS in the morning. Loaded 3 each with 29.0 and 29.5 grains of SMP763 for the morning shoot.

Okay this went well. I consider 29.5 grains max in my rifle, primer slightly flattened and 2571 fps average. 29.0 grains gave 2543 fps and a nice little cloverleaf. If you have any of this powder I would start with 28.0 grains and work up in .5 increments. 29.5 grains of BLC2 gave 2511fps with the other components being the same.
