Good day to you all. I am loading up Ruger American Predator. I have 4 lbs of IMR 4064 and would like to use it up. While not ideal I did find a good load that puts a 3 shot group into 5/16 of an inch at 2227 fps average muzzle velocity using 26g of IMR 4064. I would like to get up to another 2300-2400 fps with the powder but would like some pressure data if any one can run the info through Quick Load. I am using Hornady 123g eld with and overall loaded coal of 2.270 inchs.

quickload is very hit and miss. i think this time its a solid miss. im updated to latest available as well, so its not a version issue.
if you have the software you can find in the install directory a barrels index and proof house/lab where the data was validated. under 6.5 grendel, there is no proof house/lab listed.Last edited by Zeneffect; 03-13-2023, 05:35 PM.

IMR4064 is to slow, that powder is to dense for the 6.5GRR case, so is H4895, Varget, A2495, other powders I have tried do not produce enough velocity due to case volume or burn rate are A2520, Shooters World Match Rifle same as 2520, A2460, H322, none of the powders will break 2400fps accept SWMR, but it has pressure signs @29.1gns with 120gn ELDM from my 18'' 1&8 barrel, 29gns SWMR no pressure signs but aved 2385fps, the best powder I have found for my 18'' and 24'' 1&8 barrels is AR Comp, both of my AR rifles are very accurate with this powder using the 120gn SMK's, I'm running 27.1gns of this powder and the 120 SMK's, my 18'' aves 2495fps my 24'' aves 2545fps, ES is 21fps the SD 7. and change for both barrels and accurate, the 18'' 1.25'' in a 20mph wind @200 +yds the 24'' 7/8'' same distance! can't ask for more than that from an AR platform, JMO

Just a thought but maybe you should consider a trade for something more Grendel-friendly. I'm in SE MI and I'd trade you a couple pounds of LVR or H335 for some 4064. I use it in.308 and .30-06 Not sure where you are but there might be someone near you that you could work something out with.
