    Shooters world Tactical

Just bought some shooters world powder from midsouth and was wondering if anyone has ever used their tactical powder in the grendel? I read it is similar to H335

Wondering the same thing. I’ve searched the web and don’t find any data on Shooters brand for the Tactical. Only one I’ve seen or might have some info might be on THF forum, Chad from dallasreloads.com. I’ll drop him a line and see if he chimes in.

Thanks maybe he will have some info. It does say that it has a similar burn rate to accurate 2200 and accurate has Grendel data for that powder. I emailed shooters world maybe they will reply soon

            Here is Chads response:

If you are talking about the Shooters World Tactical Rifle powder, that is their D073-01 powder. It is on the faster burning side of rifle powder for the 223 and 308, which would make it great for the Grendel. It is a spherical/ball powder, and would meter very well in a progressive press, if you need it to.

I run their D073-06, which is their Match Rifle powder. It says the burn rate is near AA2520, but the powder lot I have is slightly faster than 2520 powder. I really like their powders. I have had very good results with the D073-06 powder so far. I did a bunch of testing with it before I bought 600+ lbs of it to use in my 308 Win bulk ammo. I have loaded a lot of ammo with it, and has worked very well. If/when I need more, I will be contacting them again for another purchase.

Shooters World provides bulk propellants to FFL Class 6 Ammunition loaders, small and large. Visit us in Upstate, South Carolina.

D073-01 Propellant is referred to as an OEM propellant. It has no reloading canister equivalent. Learn more from Shooters World.

It looks to be the same powder burn rate as SMP 735, which is St. Marks Powder (in FL), and is used for the 6.8. This tells me it's right in line for a good powder for the 6.5 Grendel.

Awesome thanks for the info! I bought a pound of the match as well. Mid south shooters supply is waving the hazmat if you buy 4 pounds or more and they have federal gold primers in stock

Does anyone have any load data on this powder? I bought 2 pounds of Tactical rifle and 2 pounds of Match rifle to try out. But can't find any data for Grendel. I can always use it for loading .223 if it does not work out for Grendel.

Have some 123gr Match Monster that I want to try. Also have some 90gr TNT's. Thinking of starting with 20 grains of Tactical with the 123's and 24 grains with the 90's. Then starting with 25 grains of Match Rifle for the 123's and 28 grains for the 90's. Will use my magnetospeed for velocity measurements.

Does anyone have any input on this? I am still researching this, and hope to find more info on using these powders with the Grendel.

Please report back on the Match Monsters. I have been eyeing those lately wondering how well they shoot.

Here is a link to Lovex/Shooters World loading data. Tactical Rifle powder seems to be a new low flash high intensity powder. The Tactical Rifle powder is the same as Lovex D073-08. They show this powder is suitable for the 6.5 Grendel. There is no load data on Lovex for D073-08 powder so not sure if this powder has not been released for sale outside of the US.

Shooters World provides reloaders with valuable reloading data and a link to the Lovex® Reloading Guide.

Looking at the burn rate chart Tactical Rifle looks very similar to Accurate 2200.

Many of the Lovex powders are made in the same factory in the Czech Republic as older Accurate 2230 & 2520. The D073-01 was very close or the same powder as Accurate 2200 and at one time Lovex recommended using data for accurate powders since they had limited reloading data available.

In looking at the Shooters World loading data I found a new burn rate chart that differs from the previous burn rate chart from Lovex. Looks like Tactical Rifle is a new unique powder.

Thanks Vascar. I had not seen the second chart you posted.

I went ahead and loaded a few rounds last night. Shot them into the ground in the back yard. Turns out 20 grains with 123's was way low. 1588 fps with 12" barrel. The bolt did lock back however.

This is Shooters World Tactical/D073-08, 123 gr Match Monster, Federal 205 primer, once fired Hornady brass, 2.25 COL, 12.7" Faxon group buy barrel:

                        20 gr-1588 fps
                        21 gr-1713
                        22 gr-1738
                        23 gr-1837
                        24 gr-1910
                        25 gr-2015

The bolt locked back on all loads. No signs of pressure yet. Will start ladder at 25.5 gr and work up from there.

Also loaded and tested a few 90 gr TNT. 28 gr got me to 2251 fps. Will start ladder at 28.5 grains for those.

Thanks for post Monty as I’ll be loading up some 85grainers and at least it gives me a starting point.

Please post up your results if possible.

I loaded up 50 rounds each of 123's and 90 TNT's yesterday. Hoping to make it to the range next week for more testing. I will post in this thread with results
