Speer 90gr TNTs and X-Terminator powder...... not a bad combo.

So I got some more time with my 18" 6.5G and 90gr TNTs.
I was really wanting to try them with Ramshot X-Terminator powder as I have about 20lbs that I got dirt cheap.

My first batch of ladder tests was with New Hornady brass and CCI 450s loaded to about 2.190" COL.
I was getting consistent 1.25- 1.35" groups at 100 yards.
Not terrible but, not the greatest either.

    Average 2718.58 fps
    Std. Dev 6.42 fps
    No pressure signs.

I went ahead and loaded some New Starline with the same load but loaded to 2.185" COL as recommended by another person.
Surprisingly, I got slower speeds, less SD but, was more accurate for sure with this Starline brass.
    #1 15 shot group.
    Average 2677.65 fps
    Std. Dev 13.68 fps

    #2 10 shot group
    Average 2677.31 fps
    Std. Dev 10.66 fps

Was def shooting better groups today, my largest was 1.18" and I was even able to take it out to 300 yards in the 9MPH crosswinds. I thought it did really well at 300.

I knew I pulled the far right shot for sure being the first time shooting my Larue MBT trigger and I just seem to be pulling a shot almost all day each time.
Again no pressure signs in the Starline brass, in fact the primers looked like they were not much pressure at all.
For cheap projectiles and powder I got for under $20 a pounds, I am happy.

Got to love it when you get a good deal on components and they make accurate ammo!

    Thanks for posting.

Yea, I came across the XTerminator on accident, I was really wanting TAC.
Was worried a bit but, now that i have 1K of 90gr TNTs, I think this will make a great combo and low cost ammo option for the Grendel.

XTerminator + varmint weight bullets has been really popular on the forum dating back to the when the forum first started.

There's a bunch of data for it from Western Powders, which we included in Volume I and Volume II.

So I will now call this load CONFIRMED and G2G (Good to Go).

I shot 3 Five round groups at 100 yards.
            Ave Velocity= 2694FPS
            Std Dev= 12.8
            group 1= .77" group 2= .84" and group 3= .79"

I then moved out to 300 yards to see how they would fare.
90gr Speer TNT with 30g Ramshot X-terminator powder at 300 yards.
            18" 6.5G with Satern barrel.

I did shoot the same projectile over 8208 XBR and got better speeds (Ave of 2800FPS with Std Dev of 8.8)
            These grouped right at slightly under 1" at 100 but, seeing as how I got 8lbs of X-Term powder almost $6 a pound cheaper than XBR and the TNTs for 17 cents a round;
I will stick to this 90gr TNT and X-Term combo.
It will make for a great low cost range ammo and possibly some pig or other critter getter.
