Took me a while to remember the name of the tender but it came back to me.

It's funny that we three are all about the same age and were in the same part of the world all those years ago.

VQ-2 is gone, VP-23 is gone, the base at Brunswick, Maine was closed.

Edit: the carrier USS J.F. Kennedy (CV-67) is not gone but decommissioned, berthed in Philly and available for donation. Got a big yard?
And they're building another J.F.K, this one CVN-79.

I wont trust a digital alone. Ill use it for cases and bullets and such... but never for powder. too many chances it wont be accurate. get a quality beam scale. Mount it at eye level directly in front of where you charge cases. and box it in.

Powder measurers... I still like my Uni-flo RCBS but lately been using my Redding's more. I have a brace of both on two of my benches. You need to develop a rhythm with them and they will be remarkably accurate for you.

          Good luck,

                  OK Guys:

                  Enough of the Navy reunion.

Keep it focused on the topic now.

One bug is that it sometimes throws and overload, especially with stick powder. The inside of the rotating tube is threaded and this tends to clump stick powder when it goes into the final staccato jerks at the end of the throw. On advice from another forum I cut a short piece of McDonald's drinking straw and this seems to have fixed it. I use a Li-ion battery pack to make it mobile and smooth the power supply. Six laptop batteries in 3S2P (11.1V).

Truth be known, nothing beat the old balance beam and trickler for absolutely verifiable accuracy, and it's a cheap option.
Klem I tried this now and adjusted the constants. First, looking online I found the original settings: 15.68, 3.42, and 1.08. The ones I settled on that seem to work best (at least for now) for me are 12.0, 5.5, 1.2. I tweaked all of these up from original modification-suggestions (7.0, 2.0, 0.5,
see http://www.accuracy-tech.com/rcbs-ch...modifications/) b/c for 243, 308 the dispenser speed runs up a good bit and overshoots... so I moved my setpoints up to allow that over-run to not take me too far.

My stick powders are dispensing much better.
