Dear Klem I read what you had posted about the 120 etip ammo, so I went over to PF's website and reread what they posted about their 120 etip round compared to the 120 Bt round they sell and both rounds show they tested with a 24in barrel and got 2500fps speeeds.
Also as for as price its only like 10 dollars diffrence for a box of fifty rounds.
In the end I guess there is only one way to be sure so I will be ordering a box to test against the 120 BT I already have from PF.
I will be running these rounds through my JP 18in lightweight barrel, And thank you agian for that info you had posted up about that bullet.
My calculations in the other thread are for an 18.8" barrel using 53,500lbs of peak pressure (exceeds SAAMI but Quickload is notoriously conservative. I used the same load as my 120NBT's).
PF claims the same velocity (2,500fps) for both the lead and the longer lead-free bullets. That sounds unusual but not impossible so I'll be interested to hear what your chronograph comparison is. I have no interest in buying them so won't be able to confirm.
You certainly want something more for the fact they are more expensive than the lead equivalent.
Not so much looking for something more its just I dont load my own ammo so I like to know what each and every available factory round can and will do out of my rifle.
That way no matter what happens to ammo avaliablty I can buy a box and know what my rifles limits will be with it.
