Anyone try RL 15

I have a few pounds of reloader 15 laying around
. Anyone ever try it with the 123gr. bullets? I've always used it for 308 and 556....but I'm concerned that I cannot put enough powder in to get enough velocity since it's a stick powder

Years ago when there wasn't much load data for the Grendel, many guys tried RL 15. Your conclusion is correct. Safe to shoot, no velocity.

29g of RL15 under a 123g pill will get you about 2500fps from a 24" barrel.

Nosler reloading book has info on RL-15 for 120,123/125 gr bullets with approximate FPS and case volumes.

It worked well with 139 FMJ for me but I don't remember the velocity.

29.5 RL 15 over a 120 grn. pill will be 2500-2550 fps. Std cup core units.
The 120gr. all copper expanding units require a read thru.

Plenty fine enough for practice- close in hunting. Sometimes less is more.!

Buy cheap 120 pills,,,, practice more.
