Just got this email from Joe Bob.
This might be of interest for those of you looking for the LAR side-charger

I can tell you why. Freedom Group shut down sales of individual components to Joe Blow. LAR is right here in the Salt Lake Valley, and they make about 85% of the entire market's upper and lower receivers. When I say "make", I mean they get the forgings, then machine them, and have them anodized before being sent out to Bushmaster, DPMS, Remington, and other AR15 companies.
Whenever they would have blems, they would sell them to individual customers for like $48 per. When Freedom Group took over, they ordered the shop people to grind blems up, and turned off the faucet for individual sales. It makes perfect business sense that they did that too, because Freedom Group has interests in selling rifles through DPMS, Bushmaster, and Remington.
If discriminating customers like me only want select quality components, like LAR receivers, that is one less rifle sale in their minds, even though I would never buy from them anyway since I have different standards for QC than Freedom Group does.Last edited by Guest; 01-01-2014, 05:32 PM.

Yes, I spoke to this some time ago after I got an email from a sales guy at Remington. When I started shopping for the upper for my Grendel, I had my heart set on the LAR and could never get an answer from vendors as to when they would be available. Joe Bob got some in stock, and they sold out in the time it took me to get back to my office from lunch.
I used the contact us form on their site, but got the email from a Remington rep. He basically said they don't know when or if uppers would ever be available for the public to buy directly again. That is when I moved on and got the ASA.

been using a crosshill right side for a couple months,,probably 300 rds. or so..it is the best machined and finished upper i've seen..have not had a single issue with it..the nib carrier is a plus for me,,less lube and easy cleaning..also did not require facing..you'll be happy with it..

Well now UPS lost the muzzle brake that Mark sent out a day later than the barrel .They say I refused delivery but I talked to some one at UPS and they said the box was MT when they went to deliver it so he never tried to deliver .. So I guess its floating around on a conveyer belt some where or in the back of a truck . I hate UPS .They take twice as long for deliveries than Fed Ex . Have the best service with small stuff with the USPS .
